Ordering Your Own Lab Tests Online

I found out a few months ago that it's possible for people to order their own lab tests online. Although the law requires a doctor to actually do the requisition, consumers can go to one of several websites, place their order, and wait for it to be approved.

This practice isn't legal everywhere, but most states do allow it. To get the specifics, check this article.

There are quite a few things to consider before taking such a step, so be sure to read the pros and cons of ordering your own lab tests online.

This would make things a lot easier on my end, instead of having to wait the two weeks from the doctors themselves. Do you know what type of time-frame you can get them back in?

Ava, it depends on the type of test. Most of them seem to be really quick (within a week), but some do take longer.

I saw your article on YCN but couldn't comment there. It's an interesting concept. There have been dozens of times when directly receiving test results would have been perfect.

Gayle, it really is nice to have the option.

That article originally had comments, but then YCN started an experiment where comments are disallowed, and it wiped out the existing ones. They really need to end the experiment.
